7 Design Tips and Tricks To Create That WOW Factor For Your Home.

We have listed 7 design tips and tricks to create that wow factor for your dream home to suit all budget types.

Tip 1. Make a statement with the new staircase.

Don’t simply squeeze it in because it is a necessity. Make it a statement piece and capitalise on that double height space. We love to create lightwells with our staircases. This can be relatively cost-effective if designed well. The cost goes up depending on the style of the staircase eg glass balustrades. Floating steps.

Tip 2. Create a walk in wardrobe.

This is not necessarily a huge expense or space  but more an initial design consideration, gives a feel of elegance, and also the opportunity to close off clutter from the bedroom which now is just a place for sleeping and relaxing.

Tip 3. A larger entrance hall.

After all 1st impressions count. Make it big, light, airy and ideally with views through the house, being able to see a series of rooms leading on from each other creates the illusion of more space. You will want guests to enter your home without feeling crammed into a small dark area. It does not have to be an expensive addition if worked out well at the design stage.

Tip 4. Big front door.

If you’re adding a new entrance to the house seriously consider a statement front door. It sets the tone for the rest of the house. Go big. Go wide.

Tip 5. Use pockets doors.

Not only do they look great, but they also work well in smaller spaces and can create movable walls/flexible spaces if large enough. These can be relatively cost effective and work well on small bathrooms and en-suite shower rooms.

Tip 6. Double height space/tall ceilings.

Give the impression of light and air. Accentuating it with drop down pendant lighting.

Tip 7. Feature walls.

Consider having a single wall which acts as a feature throughout the house. This draws the eye up and around to view this monolithic element. This can be a cost-effective measure. You could build an internal wall from blockwork which has a painted finish. You’ll save time and money by omitting the plastering and can give an individual look to your home.
