Other consultants. Who we work with and what they do.
Outline below are some of the types of consultants we work with and what they do on a building project.
Do I need a Structural Engineer?
All of our projects involve a structural engineer. So put simply it’s most likely you will need one and you should budget for their fees. They are responsible for designing the structural elements of a building from the size and type of foundations to steel beams and columns.
A structural engineer’s skills and expertise is required for any structural alteration or new construction. They will specify the type of foundations the building will have and all steel beams and columns required to support the building. Their drawings and calculations will need to be submitted to building control for approval.
What are their fees?
A Structural Engineer’s fee are determined by the scope of their services and size and complexity of the project. For a typical house extension project you should budget between £1500-£5000+vat for their services.
